5.0 out of 5 stars A common man's point of view., June 27, 2009

Well yeah, I'm common. I'm so common I will even tell perfect strangers I have an irritable bowel. OK, it sounds better to say I have IBS. If you have the same problem, you know what it means. If you DO have the same problem and don't know what to do about it, get this product. It's the same as Imodiom AD, but a LOT cheaper. For me its a miracle drug. I have to take two every day, so I need a source at a good price and this can't be beat....Richard.

I'm severely ill, and almost ALL food makes me sick. I can eat, but I'm sick anywhere between 4 and 20 hours afterwards, depending on what I eat. Imodium was a life saver to me, but was costing a fortune. We were paying $15 a box for 72 tablets. My doctor told me that the active ingredient in Imodium was Loperamide, and that I should try to find it generically, cheaper. I searched, and found this stuff. MUCH cheaper, but there were warnings about it making the symptoms worse if you had problems with lactose (Dairy), which I do. But I was desperate, and so I tried it out. It worked EXACTLY the same for me, except I no longer had to just take 2 in an effort to conserve money. My doctors have me taking 2 every 30 minutes while the symptoms are persisting, which for me is pretty much always. But this stuff helps. And yeah, I've tried to see what not taking them does. The degree by which this lessens my problem is easily a factor of 10.
I won't be ashamed of my illness because I'm... Read more

While I was shopping at Walmart once, I saw the Equate brand of loperamide come down in cost fairly close to this Kirkland's product. They had a 2 pack of the 96-count for around $4 if I recall correctly. But now they've jacked that price up quite a bit, and I suspect they'll lower the price again when they have a promotion. This Kirkland's brand is the best price at this time. And as others have already said, it's the same stuff as what you get in Immodium A-D, but costs more than 10 times less than Immodium.

Most of you who do not have IBS or some other chronic condition will not need this much product. Traveler's diarrhea can be helped with this, but I found that it didn't work very well for me in my trip to China. If you're worried about getting traveler's diarrhea, you should ask your doctor for some antibiotic pills to take with you on your trip. I'd also take probiotic pills with you - the best one that I know of being the Align probiotic pill. And maybe think... Read more
